For a suitable mould cleaner or paver cleaner, product selection still depends on the surface and the contamination. Test a small inconspicuous area and follow the product directions before full application.

After using stronger cleaning products, a final rinse with Spirit Neutral Cleaner is recommended.

Spirit Heavy Duty Cleaner for grease and built-up grime

Some outdoor areas need more than routine cleaning. Barbecue zones, entryways, tiled entertaining spaces and heavily used paved areas can develop built-up grease and embedded grime.

Spirit Heavy Duty Cleaner, also known as Spirit HDC, is a super-alkaline cleaner for built-up grease and grime on suitable hard surfaces. It can help brighten dirty grout, making it a practical heavy duty tile cleaner where the surface is compatible.

Spirit Heavy Duty Cleaner is not suitable for sensitive polished natural stone. Test a small inconspicuous area, follow product directions and finish with a final rinse using Spirit Neutral Cleaner.

Prepare the surface before sealing

Sealing should only begin when the substrate is clean, dry and free from residues that could affect adhesion or penetration.

Spirit Safe Stripper can be used to remove certain topical sealers, paints and acrylic coatings. Spirit Pre-Seal can provide early protection on new porous stone and can be used as a grout release where suitable. These products should be selected according to the substrate, project conditions and product directions.

Good preparation gives the sealer a sound, uncontaminated surface to work with.

Once the area has been cleaned and prepared, Spirit Water-Based Premium Seal is an extremely low-VOC penetrating sealer with a natural-look finish for suitable porous stone, tiles, concrete and pavers.

It helps resist oil- and water-borne staining while allowing vapour transmission. This stone sealer is suitable for internal and external applications when the substrate and project conditions are appropriate, making it a practical penetrating sealer where the natural appearance of the surface should be maintained.

Choose the right cleaner and sealer for the job

Every surface and contamination issue is different. A mould-affected sandstone path may need a different approach from greasy outdoor tiles or porous concrete pavers.

1. Identify the surface material and contamination.

2. Select the suitable Spirit cleaner.

3. Clean and rinse the surface thoroughly.

4. Allow the substrate to dry completely.

5. Apply the appropriate Spirit sealer for the required protection and finish.
